I have led multi-disciplined and multi-site communications teams at both large and small companies, partnering with clients in the healthcare, consumer, corporate, government, nonprofit and retail spaces.

My passion for planning and project management have earned me a reputation as someone who “gets it done” (on budget and on time).

Building a Strong Foundation

Creating a Communications Department for National Corporation

Built/managed the first corporate communications team for a national healthcare retail company. Managed a cross-functional team of associates and partner agencies to execute all internal and external corporate communications. Created organization’s first corporate branding package and redesigned its website to better reflect company persona. Led communication strategy for company’s IPO journey, reputation and change management issues, and inaugural ESG framework development. Member of senior leadership team, responsible for communication element of corporate strategy, partnering closely with C-suite to incorporate within the organization.

Impacting Public Health Perceptions

​Educating Stakeholders to Raise Awareness and Increase Prevention

Led multi-discipline teams that created award-winning, integrated communications campaigns to raise awareness of critical public health issues on behalf of CDC. Campaigns included educating pediatricians and parents on the importance of monitoring a child’s growth, educating OB/GYNs and midwives on the importance of screening for HIV and increasing awareness around the importance of immunization and flu vaccines. Created messages/materials for CDC on a variety of other health issues including arthritis, diabetes, blood disorders, MRSA, Ebola and H1N1 (“swine flu”).


Creating Messages that Make a Difference

Developing Message Systems that Articulate Mission and a Call to Action

Created message systems and tools for variety of clients that aligned with a larger purpose/vision as well as a call to action helping drive results. Conducted strategic planning sessions to identify core values and goals, then used evidence-based data to create supporting message architectures. Built specific tools and materials using these architectures, creating consistent messages and branding. Tools included message platforms, talking points, FAQs, one-pagers, website copy, toolkits, videos, social media content and more. Covered wide variety of message topics in genres including retail, healthcare, government, corporate and nonprofit.

Planning for Possibilities

Being Prepared Before an Issue Arises

Developed crisis communications preparedness plan for health care retail organization with associates at corporate, manufacturing and retail locations across the country. Partnered with key business functions to identify potential incident scenarios and create sample messages, statements and talking points. Created communication protocol for emergencies and trained organization leaders how to use/respond. Protocols included both internal and external as well as guidance on handling media inquiries.
